Radiant spring light, a spirited goddess
——Quality Control Department, Ren Changwu
With the return of the laws, tender spring breezes sweep across the land, and shimmering spring light lavishly enfolds all.
Half a wall of vibrant brushwork, painted by women; rosy glow surrounds the flower of womanhood.
The spring breeze carries its promise, and blossoms will surely bloom in due time. When the heart is filled with beauty, the fragrance of flowers will fill every path. Let us pursue our dreams and grow toward the sun. May you be a princess who forges ahead through thorns and brambles, yet also a beloved goddess—possessing an independent spirit and the freedom to make your own choices, just as the poet Shu Ting wrote in “To the Oak”: “If I love you, I shall never be like the climbing trumpet vine, clinging to your lofty branch to flaunt myself; nor shall I be like the infatuated bird, endlessly repeating a monotonous song for the sake of shade. No, I must be a kapok tree by your side, standing with you as one with the very essence of a tree.” Women of the new era are independent and strong, shining brightly and radiating their own unique light! Today, self-respect, self-confidence, self-reliance, and self-improvement are the aspirations of women. On life’s journey, though the road may seem ordinary, they bravely shoulder half the sky, making the whole world more beautiful and vibrant—and becoming a dazzling sight in everyday life.
When we speak of feminine beauty, one might picture the Four Great Beauties—whose very names evoke images of fish sinking in the water, wild geese falling from the sky, the moon hiding in shame, and flowers blushing with modesty; or the ethereal grace described in Cao Zhi’s “Ode to the River Goddess”: “Her bearing is like a startled wild goose, her form like a swimming dragon—slender yet full of inner charm, perfectly proportioned.” Or perhaps the exquisite imagery in “The Peacock Flies Southeast”: “Her waist is as smooth as flowing white silk, her ears adorned with bright moon-shaped earrings; her fingers are as slender as trimmed scallion roots, her lips as red as freshly applied cinnabar.” While a beautiful face is indeed a feast for the eyes, it is fleeting, worn away by the passage of time and life’s trials. As the saying goes, “Rosy cheeks fade before the mirror, blossoms fall from the trees.” Thus, only women who cultivate both their outward appearance and inner spirit can, through the sedimentation of life, grow more fragrant with age and shine ever more brightly. Dear ladies, you should embrace the unique beauty that is truly your own.
The beauty of gentleness—women are like water: seemingly soft and fragile, yet capable of wearing away even the hardest stone. Harnessing softness to overcome strength is a woman’s innate gift; living authentically is her ultimate goal. With tender affection, she creates a clear, sunny sky; with delicate emotions, she sows the fields of everyday life; with a kind and understanding smile, she warms those around her; and with a calm, composed heart, she embraces the rich tapestry of the world.
The beauty of sincerity lies in its pursuit of simplicity and naturalness, rejecting hypocrisy and vulgarity. It yearns for a pure and clear inner space, while maintaining an earnest and straightforward character. No affectation, no obsequious servility—just an open heart and graceful composure!
The beauty of self-confidence: with confidence, one can live a life of two hundred years; with unwavering resolve, one can surge forward for three thousand li. It embodies the transcendent aloofness of solitary admiration, the steadfast determination to pursue one’s goals, the carefree elegance of indifference to worldly strife, as well as a mature charm and a distinctive, unique allure.
The beauty of wisdom allows the fragrance of books and cultivated refinement to permeate the soul, while one’s demeanor and moral cultivation exude a delicate, lingering charm. It was Zhuo Wenjun, who penned the line “I long for a true-hearted companion, to grow old together without parting,” inspiring Sima Xiangru to compose his passionate ode “The Phoenix Seeks Its Mate”; it was Li Qingzhao, famed for her love of reading and tea-drinking, whose shared passion for bronze inscriptions, stone carvings, calligraphy, and painting brought her into perfect harmony with Zhao Mingcheng, their bond as close as that of a harmonious pair of zither and lute. And it was Lin Huiyin, author of “You Are the April Sky of This World,” whose ethereal, fleeting beauty captivated such renowned figures as the poet Xu Zhimo, the philosopher Jin Yuelin, and the architect Liang Sicheng—three men who all fell deeply in love with her at once.
The beauty of tolerance: tolerance is the lush green grass, and tolerance is the gentle spring breeze. Cast aside a narrow mind and bid farewell to pettiness and resentment. With a heart free from selfishness, one’s horizons will be boundless; to repay enmity with virtue and to embrace tolerance—such is the true realm and magnanimity of a woman!
Women who are able to build independent careers are truly admirable: they refuse to climb like vines, to be anyone’s appendage, to become slaves to their emotions, or to live as snails trapped in a shell. May the goddesses of the new era all have light in their eyes, dreams in their hearts, and smiles on their faces—embodying independence, self-assurance, and poised confidence. With noble character and refined elegance, they harbor lofty aspirations; now, in these peaceful times, they are writing a new chapter!
In this warm, tender, and vibrant month of March, we solemnly celebrate the 114th International Women’s Day. On this occasion, we extend our heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all the remarkable women who tirelessly labor on the front lines. May you enjoy a joyous holiday, good health, family happiness, and everlasting youth!
